OUR MISSION: The Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee is committed to contributing to the financial support of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and to expanding awareness of its musical and educational programs.
Who We Are
Our members are active and retired accountants, financial planners, CEOs, educators, marketing, advertising and communications specialists, nurses, doctors, you name it ... from every walk of life. Most importantly, volunteers have a passion for contributing to their community, a love of the arts and a strong commitment to the TSO and the future of orchestral music.
The president of the TSVC Board of Directors sits on the TSO Board of Directors.
What We Do
Joining the TSVC means you have the unique opportunity to work with a professional group of volunteer fundraisers who create, organize and present our very popular events that support the TSO. Our famous Wine Auction, our spring Bridge, Lunch and Speaker event, our gala evenings, our Flags at the Proms, and our Maestro's Open House are vital ways to contribute.
Education Committee volunteers assist the TSO Education Department in several programs: Adopt-A-Player, Morning with the Symphony, Young People's Concerts, and Preludes.
Every second year, the TSVC presents the Toronto Symphony Orchestra National Piano Competition. We organize and host an event that attracts many of Canada's finest young pianists.
Interludes is a series of lectures and learning sessions that give volunteers exposure to artists and creators in all the arts.
The TSVC has well established committees for Communications, Public Relations and Marketing, Membership, Nominations, and New Projects. Our Orchestra Liaison Committee keeps volunteers directly connected with the TSO players, staff, and of course, the Maestro and visiting Maestros.
